Rachel Clarke wins 2025 Women's Prize for Non-Fiction

Rachel Clarke (1990) has been awarded the 2025 Women's Prize for Non-Fiction, with The Story of a Heart. The book follows two family stories, exploring the human experience behind organ donation. We meet two nine-year old children: Kiera, who dies following a catastrophic car accident, and Max, who faces heart failure due to a viral infection.

The Women's Prize commented on The Story of a Heart

Inspiring, profoundly moving and insightful, it celebrates both an indefatigable respect for life, the generosity and tenacity of the human spirit and the sheer miracle of modern science.
